We watched films on global issues, studied governments that we thought were unjust and we campaigned for societal change. They slipped into my mouth nearly unnoticed. Pi, Ralph and Hamlet all experience the loss of their innocence as they come to face their inner and outer demons.

Pi understands suffering now, he understands desperation and because of this, he has lost his childhood innocence.
